Mental Health Around the World - International Medical Corps

Over the course of the year we will be sharing posts focusing on mental health topics from around the world. To start things off we are featuring the International Medical Corps. When large disasters occur, the International Medical Corps responds with medical and mental health  services. They have recently released a report  on the work that they have done in Japan  over the past year following the tsunami and radiation crisis. Their work included building local mental health capacity by training nearly 180 people, counselors and front-line workers, in the use of Psychological First Aid.

You can learn more about the International Medical Corps’ work in Japan specific to mental health by watching this video that they have produced.

Check back next month when we highlight the work being done around mental health and suicide prevention in Northern Ireland.
